  • Kosher certification is not a legal requirement, except for certain items such as meat and poultry, but due to the nature of the Israeli market, many foods require or are recommended (processed foods use a variety of ingredients, additives, processing aids, etc.; complex tracking and verification processes are required to ensure that all of these ingredients meet kosher standards; processed foods can lose their kosher status if they are produced in a facility that previously produced non-kosher foods (possibility of cross-contamination)).
